On June 15th, the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) announced that they have a new rating system designed for landscape projects, SITES. The rating system is more complex than credits included in the Sustainable Sites Credits area of their other rating systems. The application cost to certify a project can be anywhere from $7,500 to $10,000. The project has be at least 2,000 square feet and has to have been built within the past two years, or be currently in design.
This certification is intended to raise the bar higher than the credits found in Sustainable Sites. Ecosystems, resiliency, community benefits from the project and improving sustainability of water management and filtration of storm water are the primary focus.
