Poor IAQ can quickly lead to “sick building syndrome” (SBS) or “building related illness” (BRI).  Radon and Asbestos can lead to health problems even when they are lower than the contaminant concentration levels.  There are technologies that can help to improve IAQ and help lessen contaminants in buildings through proper storage and ventilation of paints, adhesives, solvents, etc.  When occupying a new building, proper time must be allocated for materials to off-gas their pollutants.  Ongoing proper IAQ requires attention to cleaning of the building throughout its useful life and maintaining ventilation.
