Greendatabase.org is a nonprofit organization focused on improving the environment by educating people through the process of gathering and sharing information about all green related topics.
The organization researches, develops, and maintains databases of green issues, information, and solutions for use by building professionals and the general public.
The organization will also provide an avenue for architectural students and intern architects to be involved with research on green issues and materials.
The purpose of the organization is to educate the general public and the architectural community in a scientific way of gathering information on green, sustainable issues related to building environment and with regards to the health, safety, and welfare of the public. This is done by using information from ASHRAE, ASTM, US Green Council, US EPA, UN Environment Programmer’s Sustainable Construction and Building Initiative (SBCI), and other related agencies, laboratories and sources.
Active research is being done in building products, life cycle assessment, energy use, alternative energy, water and air pollution,
and IAQ (Indoor Air Quality), among other areas.
The organization is seeking grant money from state, federal, and private companies for Power Point presentations that can be used at schools and other youth organizations such as Pass it Along, developing a website that is paperless, developing hands-on projects that are related to green practices, and developing an avenue for high school, college students and intern architects to volunteer their time for community service.
Future plans include continual maintenance and upkeep of website and research, Webcasts, and other green community projects. |
